FDC Student signed up by Middlesbrough Football Club

Congratulations to Football Development Centre (FDC) student, James Montgomery who has recently signed a scholarship contract with Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC).

James is the second player from the FDC to make it pro in the last two years, alongside Dale Connor who signed for Oldham Athletic in 2010.

The 17 year old goalkeeper from Sunderland has now started pre-season training with the club.

Michele Di Mascio, lecturer and FDC Coordinator, said: “The Football Development Scheme is intended to give a once in a lifetime opportunity to students aged 16-19.

“We are committed to creating a whole host of opportunities including progression into professional or semi-professional football. I’d like to congratulate James and wish him all the best with the team.”

The FDC aims to improve the skills of talented footballers.
