College charity concert raises £400

A concert organised by former Sunderland College student Alex Shenton-Parkin and dedicated to the memory of his father has raised nearly £400.

The concert, held at Gatsby in the city centre, saw Sunderland College music students from the Shiney Row campus perform hits by Adele, The Killers, Primal Scream and many more.

The event was organised by former music student Alex Shenton-Parkin, whose father died of liver cancer earlier this year.

Attended by nearly 100 people the event raised just under £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Alex said: “The event went really well, the musicians were fantastic and we raised a lot of money for charity.

“I want to thank everyone who attended and who helped make it such a great night.”
