Love Where You Live Pond Clean

Our vocational students have been rolling up their sleeves to support Sunderland City Council’s ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign.

Over 30 learners from the Hylton Skills Campus took part in a weeding and litter day at The Big Pond at the Community North Sports Complex in Downhill.

The city-wide campaign is running clean-ups across all 25 council wards during the launch week of the campaign.

Dan Patrickson, Enrichment Officer at Sunderland College, said: “We’re delighted to support the campaign which aims to help everyone across Wearside celebrate their local area.

“Here at Sunderland College, we encourage all of our students to lend a hand to help out their community and give something back. We’re delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile campaign.”

Council Leader, Councillor Paul Watson, said: “Love Where You Live is all about inspiring people to think about their communities and take a pride in them.

“It’s about making a difference to where we live, whether that’s joining neighbours in a community clean-up or makeover, or simply just keeping the area round where we live clean and litter free.”
