A free Christmas carol concert is being held at Sunderland Minster in aid of The Children’s Society.
The concert has been organised by students from Sunderland College’s Shiney Row campus who will perform Christmas carols and songs.
Two free performances will be taking place on December 12, with the evening concert including a 32 piece brass band.
Anyone who wants to go along can make a donation to The Children’s Society at the concert.
Tony Wilson, music lecturer at Sunderland College, said: “The Minster is a great venue for a concert like this, the acoustics are fantastic.
“As well as brass band we will be incorporating traditional acoustic instruments such as banjos, ukuleles and mandolins and a generous helping of Christmas sleigh bells.
“The Children’s Society does some amazing work this time of year, it’s an important cause to support. “This is going to be one of the most atmospheric carol concerts happening this Christmas.”
Performances will be taking place at 1.30pm and 7.30pm and include free mince pies.
