The Futureheads have returned to their former college to perform two gigs ahead of this year’s Split Festival in Sunderland.

The band were all students at Sunderland College and well-known on the city’s music scene before hitting the big time. Now they’re returning to college to perform tracks off their latest album, Rant.

Students have also been asking the band members about their careers and time at the college during live Q and A sessions.

The band has already played at the college’s Shiney Row campus with the next gig at the Bede campus on Tuesday (Sept 18).

The performances come in the run up to the Split Festival, which band member Ross Millard is involved in organising.

The festival takes place in from September 21 to 23, with Sunderland College supporting the event.

Rob Stewart, Curriculum Leader, Catering at Sunderland College, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome former students back to the college. They’re inspirational, demonstrating just what hardwork and dedication can help you achieve.

“We’re thrilled to be involved with the Split Festival. It’ll provide our catering students with some great real life experience, putting all the skills they’re learning in to practice.”
