Performance tables released last week, showed we are the best performing college in the north east for A-level and Vocational qualifications.
Government national performance tables highlighting the performance of colleges up and down the country show that the college yet again continues to demonstrate improvement.
Nigel Harrett, vice principal, said: “2013 was a strong year for Sunderland College. We celebrated achieving a 99 per cent pass rate at A-Level for the fifth consecutive year, and the performance table results are testament to the effort and commitment shown by everyone at the college.
“Our hard work delivering high quality education and training is paying off among learners on both vocational and A-Level courses. Our focus is always on delivering exceptional teaching to make sure every student realises their potential.
“Our years of experience in delivering teaching and support services mean that we continue to achieve excellent results, and we’ll be building on this with the addition of new multi-million pound Sports and Visual and Performing Arts Academies at Bede Campus, which will open in September.”
He added: “Our strong vocational courses which prepare students for employment and higher education resulted in students achieving an average of a distinction grade in their chosen field.”
