Festive Fun at Christmas Fayre

Staff and students at Sunderland College will be getting into the festive spirit this month when the Hylton Campus plays host to a Christmas Fayre.

The campus, based on North Hylton Road, will be awash with Christmas gift ideas and a range of businesses will be exhibiting their products at the event on November 20.

Catering students will be baking delicious festive cakes, puddings and cakes to sell at the fayre, and all money raised from this stall will fund educational trips for the aspiring chefs.

The college’s hair and beauty students will also be on hand to offer free treatments including hair pin ups, hair tonging, shape and nail polish with hand massage, hot towel wet shave with facial massage and complimentary face mapping with product recommendation.

City Sun Travel, the college’s fully ABTA bonded travel agency, will be advising guests on last minute bargains, Christmas getaways and other holiday options.

Exhibitors at the fayre include Jewellery Nights, Little Gifts Big Hugs, Phoenix Cards, Linda Bona, Vericrafti, DunnBarton, This Paper garden, Heidi Boo’s Baby Boutique and Sunderland Home Care.

Stalls will be selling a variety of Christmas gift ideas and yuletide decorations such as stained glass gifts, soft furnishings, Jamie Oliver cookware, bags, scarves, jewellery, clothes, make-up, novelty cards, calendars and Christmas cards.

Local charity Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT) will also benefit from the event as VuurVLinder will be selling fairies, angels, charms and bags in aid of the organisation.

Kathryn Shepherd, event organiser, said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to showcase their curriculum areas to the public, demonstrating their practical skills and knowledge.  This also enables us to build relationships with small local business, support the local economy and develop close links with local people.”

The Christmas Faye takes place on Thursday, November 20 from 2-7pm and entry is free of charge. For more information, visit www.sunderlandcollege.ac.uk/events/christmas-fayre/ or Sunderland College’s Facebook page.
