Generous staff and students at Sunderland College have been doing their bit to help those less fortunate during the festive period.
Thousands of items of food have been collected in the college-wide initiative and all donations are being given to Durham Christian Partnership.
The County Durham foodbank helps bring warmth and sustenance to people in crisis and during the winter months, their foodbank provides a lifeline to people who are struggling.
Ellen Thinnesen, Principal of Sunderland College said: “I am extremely proud of both our students and staff for their thoughtfulness, which will make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
“I’m overwhelmed by the response that our food bank appeal has generated and I’m delighted that we can spread some Christmas cheer through the thousands of donations.”
Peter MacLellan, Chief Executive of Durham Christian Partnership said: “We really appreciate this generous donation as we are entirely dependent on individual donations so that we can support the thousands of people who come to use each year.”
