Public Value Statement


Sunderland College is committed to contributing and responding to the needs of our community, to increase opportunity and make a notable contribution to social regeneration, economic growth and development.  Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility is to put the community at the heart of everything we do to create a positive impact and enrich the social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being of our community.

Our Community

We are committed to making a major contribution to the communities both in Sunderland and the wider North East Region.  The College’s wider community includes:

  • Learners and potential learners of all ages
  • Parents/guardians/carers and families of learners
  • Educational partners including primary and secondary schools and higher education institutions
  • Employers of all sizes and sectors
  • Local residents, community and faith groups

Our Vision and Mission

Our 2014-17 Strategic Plan summarises our vision and strategic ambitions for the next three years. We will continue to improve the experiences we provide for our community, partners and stakeholders and will be more responsive and engage more effectively.

Measuring our Contribution

The College is confident that through the implementation of its vision, mission and values it will create a strong and dynamic College for the area. Members of the public can assess the value added to the local community by the College through:
