Who is this course for?
This course is for adults who want to prepare for study on a Higher Education programme in Business, Computing or IT.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You must be aged 19 or over at the start of the programme and either hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths or complete our ‘Test the City’ Numeracy and Literacy programmes. It is desirable (but not essential) to hold a Level 2 qualification in business, computing or IT, or have relevant work experience.
What are the key things you'll learn?
All students will build on their study and research skills, their application of numbers, their writing techniques and their communication skills. Common subject content includes techniques in team building, general business studies and the use of spreadsheet software. Students will also explore the creative elements of web design in relation to supporting the business brand and e-commerce. Students will then choose from one of two pathways:
- Business – covering accounting, finance and marketing.
- ICT – covering programming and database development.
How you will learn
The programme is delivered through variety of methods including some formal lectures, practical demonstrations, seminars, research assignments, and projects. You’ll be encouraged to discover your own strengths and talents, working individual or as part of a team.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing the course you will be able to apply for a Higher Education programme such as a HNC, HND, Foundation Degree or Degree in either a business or IT related discipline.
