Who is this course for?
This course is for people with an interest and passion for sport and need a qualification that helps prepare them for degree courses in Sport.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You must be aged 19 or over at the start of the programme and either hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, or complete our Test the City Numeracy and Literacy programmes. It is desirable, but not essential to hold a Level 2 qualification in Sport or have relevant work experience.
Mature candidates will still be considered without the formal entry requirements on an individual basis, depending upon your previous experience.
All applicants are interviewed prior to starting the course.
What are the key things you'll learn?
During this course you will develop knowledge and understanding of sports psychology, anatomy, physiology, sports performance and coaching. Aspects of the course have been composed to provide highly specialist work-related knowledge and skills sought by employers in a range of sport services, such as communications, teamwork, leadership and problem solving.
How you will learn
You will learn through a large range of theory and practical units followed by opportunities to practice and develop skills and experience outside of the classroom environment. This could include coaching, physical activity, and sport sessions.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing this course you can progress on to a higher education course in sport. For example an HND or a Foundation Degree.
