Who is this course for?

This course is for people that would like to progress their careers but need a GCSE in Biology to get ahead, such as teaching or nursing.

It’s also suitable for anyone wishing to broaden their knowledge and understanding of Biology.

What do you need to apply for the course?

It would be beneficial if you have a grade C in GCSE Mathematics or Level 2 Adult

Numeracy and grade C in GCSE English or Level 2 Adult Literacy.

What are the key things you'll learn?

GCSE Biology gives students the chance to gain a good understanding of human biology, organisms, evolution and the environment.

The course helps put Biology in the context of students’ everyday lives with topics ranging from ‘Keeping healthy’ to ‘Humans and their environment’.

How you will learn

This course is taught through three hours of classroom activity per week.

The course is assessed through exams and and Investigative Skills Assessment (ISA) at the end of the academic year.

Where could this course take you?

After completing the course you could progress onto an Access to Higher Education Course.

A GCSE in Biology also helps open a route to becoming a teacher or work in health care, such as nursing and midwifery.
