Who is this course for?

This course is for people who work with adults in a wide range of health and social care settings. It helps support the professional development of those who work in health and social care, in the public private or voluntary sectors, including support workers, domiciliary and residential.

What do you need to apply for the course?

You’’ll need to be working in a role within Health and Social Care and preferably hold a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. You may also find it beneficial if you have previously completed a Literacy and Numeracy qualification.

What are the key things you'll learn?

The course builds on a variety of topics covered in the Level 2 qualification including:

  • Communication
  • Personal development
  • Equality and inclusion
  • Duty of care
  • Principles of safeguarding
  • The role of the health care worker
  • Health and safety
  • Person centred care

You will also undertake specialist knowledge units relating to the area in which you work such as dementia awareness or learning disabilities.

How you will learn

You’ll learn mainly in the workplace and your assessor will visit you at pre-agreed times. You’ll also be required to compile a portfolio of evidence.
