Work Based Learning
Who is this course for?
This course is for people who work with adults in a wide range of health and social care settings. It helps support the professional development of those who work in health and social care, in the public private or voluntary sectors, including support workers, domiciliary and residential.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You’ll need to have at least five C grades at GCSE including English Language or Mathematics. You must also have successfully achieved the first year of the diploma. You’ll also need to complete a satisfactory DBS Clearance check. Please note the new grading system for GCSE maths and English from 2017 will be numbered 1 to 9, 9 being the highest. Grade C or above will equate to Grade 4/5 or above.
What are the key things you'll learn?
The course builds on a variety of topics covered in the Level 2 qualification including:
- Personal development
- Equality and inclusion
- Duty of care
- Principles of safeguarding
- The role of the health care worker
- Health and safety
- Person centred care
You will also undertake specialist knowledge units relating to the area in which you work such as dementia awareness or learning disabilities.
How you will learn
You’ll learn mainly in the workplace and your assessor will visit you at pre-agreed times. You’ll also be required to compile a portfolio of evidence.
