Who is this course for?
This course is perfect for anyone who is interested in becoming a Fitness Instructor. The course will give you the skills and knowledge required to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective fitness instruction sessions via the context of a gym.
What do you need to apply for the course?
Students who have a keen interest in a fitness career and some experience of industry practices. Students may be encouraged to complete the level 1 active lifestyle award prior to the start of this course if they do not have any experiences in the fitness industry.
What are the key things you'll learn?
This course is made up 5 units of study which are:
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise
- Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
- Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
- Planning gym-based exercise
- Instructing gym-based exercise
How you will learn
Students will receive a Fitness Instructing manual and have unlimited access to the student support team either by telephone, moodle or e-mail. This course is also supported by an interactive online package that is completely free with the course. This contains videos, additional learning resources, lots of visual aids and learning tools to make education enjoyable and effective. Students will also have free access to the college gym to develop learning.
Where could this course take you?
On completion of this course you would be able to apply for the level 3 diploma courses in personal training or exercise referral.
