Who is this course for?

This programme is suitable for those who wish to seek employment in uniformed/public services and is designed to enhance learners’ work and life skills.

The programme is designed to help candidates develop the skills and experience they need to secure apprenticeships and other sustainable employment within uniformed/public services.

What do you need to apply for the course?

This course is suitable for anyone aged 19 or over who is unemployed, eligible to work in the UK and who is claiming JSA or ESA (WRAG) or other benefits such as income support, housing, council tax, pension credit or an unwaged dependent. People aged 19 or over who are not in receipt of a benefit are also welcome to apply.

What are the key things you'll learn?

The programme has been designed to provide highly specialist work-related knowledge and skills sought by employers in a range of uniformed services; it includes key qualities sought by employers, inter-personal skills, problem solving, teamwork, motivation, time management, health and safety at work.

We will also work closely with learners to develop job and training search skills, CV skills and interview skills to maximize the benefits of the programme for the learners. Practice and mock interviews will be undertaken.

Maths and English skills will be assessed and developed throughout the course.

Candidates will experience a large range of theory and practical sessions which provide opportunities to practice and develop skills and experience.

How you will learn

This course is taught through classroom based theory lessons, interactive activities, group work and observations.

This course could lead to an apprenticeship or sustainable employment within uniformed services; it could also lead to full time further education.
