Who is this course for?

This is a nationally recognised qualification for those looking to commence a career in the hairdressing industry UK or nationally or for those wishing to progress from Level 1 in a related subject area.

What do you need to apply for the course?

A minimum of two GCSE grade D’s including English Language or Hairdressing Level 1.

What are the key things you'll learn?

This courses covers a range of practical Hairdressing skills and relevant theoretical knowledge to prepare you for either entry into the hairdressing industry or progression to the next level and includes:

  • Cutting, styling and dressing hair
  • Shampoo, conditioning and treating the hair and scalp
  • Changing hair colour
  • Salon reception duties
  • Health and Safety
  • Maths and English 16-18 (if applicable)
  • Perming the hair
  • Consultation skills
  • Working in the Hair and Beauty Industry

How you will learn

Assessment is undertaken through observed practical tasks within our training/commercial salons. You will practice techniques on other students in the class.

Assessment of written work assignment work is undertaken within a classroom

Your IT Skills will be developed throughout the course.

You could progress onto NVQ Level 2/Level 3 Hairdressing or career opportunities include:
