Who is this course for?
This course is designed for students who have just left school and want to pursue a career in the hospitality and catering industry.
What do you need to apply for the course?
There are no entry requirements for this course other than a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

- Basic food preparation & cooking skills

How you will learn
You will be learning in a range of different environments, we have a fully licensed and working restaurant that is open to the public, this is where you will learn how a commercial kitchen works. We have a ‘training kitchen’ where you will cook a wide range of dishes and be assessed by your lecturer at three key points during the year. Also we have an interactive classroom in which you will learn the theoretical aspects of our industry.
Where could this course take you?
With this qualification you could go straight into industry as a commis/trainee chef (approx £12,000 per year) or you could progress within the college to study either a level 2 VRQ or level 2 NVQ qualification in professional cookery.
What costs will you incur?
You will need to purchase your own uniform and a starter set of professional chefs knives. If you are eligible for bursary then this will be paid for you.
