Who is this course for?
NVQ in Wood Occupations is aimed at those individuals currently employed within the construction industry. This qualification is structures to cater for the five disciplines within the industry sector. These are: Site Carpentry, Bench Joinery, Wheelwrighting, Shopfitting Site Work and Shopfitting Bench Work.
What do you need to apply for the course?
In order to enrol on this qualification, candidates must be employed in the construction industry, with a minimum of 12 months experience.
What are the key things you'll learn?
Mandatory Units • Conform to general workplace safety • Confirm work activities and resources for the work • Develop and maintain good working relationships • Confirm the occupational method of work
Site Carpentry Mandatory Units • Install first fixing components • Install second fixing components Optional Units (choose one of the following) • Erect structural carcassing components • Erect complex structural carassing components • Maintain structural and non-structural components • Set up and use fixed or transportable machine
How you will learn
The course is assessed within the workplace, by a qualified NVQ Assessor who will observe performance. Some additional written work may be required in order to confirm underpinning knowledge within the units. NVQ assessors will visit on a regular basis, and will provide on-going support and guidance throughout this qualification. Candidates will complete a number of mandatory and optional units for their chosen area / pathway.
Where could this course take you?
Completion of this qualification provides learners with progression opportunities to the NVQ Level 3 in Site Supervision or other related qualification.
