A group of second year BTEC Travel and Tourism students from City of Sunderland College have held a special cabaret show to support ‘Hope 4 Kidz’.
The 45-strong cast from the College’s St Peter’s Sixth Form took to and behind the stage at North Shore.
Raising £363.20 for the charity, final year student Ledine Mitchelson, said: “We wanted to support a local good cause and Hope 4 Kidz was a natural choice as it helps so many children and young people suffering from a physical or a mental disability here in Sunderland.
“We wanted to create a fun event to keep people entertained and also help with our studies, as part of our course covers a unit on entertainment. We all really enjoyed the show and hope the audience did too!”
The event will help the students achieve a unit on ‘Entertainment for Holiday Makers’, having worked hard to try and secure a high grade by demonstrating an impressive level of organisation, participation and evaluation skills.
Viv Watts, Chief Executive at Hope 4 Kidz, said: “Thank you to the students for selecting Hope 4 Kidz as their charity to support during their cabaret night. Without support from organisations like this, the charity would not be able to support as many beneficiaries. Every penny counts and the students certainly made their hard work count at the cabaret night.”
