Students to be honoured by Olympian

The hard work of Sunderland College students is being honoured at two award evenings.

The first took place last night (Thursday) when Frankie Francis, from popular local band Frankie and The Heartstrings, handed out prizes to lucky students.

Team GB Olympic women’s footballer, Jill Scott, will hand out prizes at the second awards evening, taking place at the Stadium of Light on Monday, September 24.

Sunderland born Jill will be arriving at the awards on a high after scoring in England’s 3 – 0 win over Croatia on Wednesday night.

The students are picking up awards for their hard work and commitment to their studies.

Nigel Harrett, Sunderland College acting principal, said: “These award evenings are a great way to recognise those students who have achieved so much in the past couple of years.

“Sunderland College is committed to supporting its students and giving them the best college experience possible. These awards evenings form part of the commitment.”
