The College will be promoting and supporting the annual fundraising event for Genetics Disorders UK known as ‘Jeans for Genes Day’ on Friday 19th September 2014
We would like as many staff and students as possible to take part in this event and in return for a donation of £2 everyone can come into work/college in their jeans.
For those staff/students who normally wear jeans you can still take part by wearing double denim, dressing in bad taste or by donating any old pairs of jeans in advance of Friday 19 September and then we will use these jeans to create a monster pair of jeans on the field behind the new builds at Bede centre during lunchtime on Friday 19 September. This will allow for an excellent photo opportunity to promote and raise awareness of this event. Following this, your old jeans will be donated to charity.
For those staff wearing jeans on the day you should make all donations to a nominated person within your team and this should then be paid into one of the college’s main receptions. Collection buckets will also be made available at each of the refectories and at the site of the giant pair of jeans.
For any staff/students who wish to donate an old pair of jeans please could you drop these off at each main college site reception so that these can be forwarded to Ruth Magnus in the tutorial department at the Bede centre.
1 in 25 children has a genetic disorder that makes their life very difficult. By wearing our jeans and donating and supporting this event, we can help change these children’s lives.
If any staff or students would wish to arrange other means of raising money for this event please feel free to do so and let us know what you are doing so that we can record this for you.
