Barbering student wins silver at national final

A talented barbering student from Sunderland College has been crowned UK silver medallist at the national final of the AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Therapists) competition.

Hazel Littlemore competed against students from across the whole of the UK in the Men’s Long Hair category.  She was awarded second place for her busker-inspired hair style at the prestigious national competition, which was held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Hazel Littlemore, who is studying Level 2 Barbering at Sunderland College, said:
“I was really pleased to win second place.  The competition was a great experience for me and it has been a huge boost for my confidence.”

Mark Sowerby, Barbering Lecturer based at the College’s City Campus, said:
“The standard of work at the national final was extremely high.  We are very proud of what Hazel has accomplished.”
