Students gain insight into life at university with a trip to Cambridge

Sunderland College A-Level students recently took a trip to Cambridge to gain insights into life at Jesus College, Cambridge.

The two-day trip gave students the opportunity to understand university admissions tests and interview processes. Students also gained one-to-one feedback on their personal statements in readiness for the completion of their UCAS applications.

The Year 13 students were able to meet with current undergraduate students to gain insights into life at the college. They were also involved in sample interviews in both the Sciences and Arts subjects to better understand the requirements of a university interview and how best to prepare for it.

Students also had the opportunity to complete exemplar assessment tests and the interaction between the Cambridge undergraduates and our students allowed for a greater understanding of the Cambridge application, assessment and interview process.

Gill Brown, Student Progress and Development Manager, said: “Our students were excellent ambassadors for our college and were a pleasure to take away. They have gained valuable insights into life at Cambridge and this has cemented their future university progression route.

“We are now identifying those students who now wish to further their application and prepare them for the assessment and interview process.”
