An excellent career enhancing opportunity is available for an ambitious leader to become our next Faculty Director at Sunderland College’s City Centre Campus. The successful candidate will lead one of our largest faculties which includes a number of technical and vocational curriculum areas including, Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Construction Industries, Travel and Tourism, Hair, Beauty and Barbering, Food and Hospitality.

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and values based leader to help take the Faculty into the next phase of its transformation to outstanding. The Faculty Director will lead a careers focussed curriculum aligned to national, regional and local economic priorities, foster strong technical partnerships, empower our people and drive excellence for students and apprentices.

To meet our high expectations, you must have a ‘can do’ attitude and relish turning challenges into opportunities. You must be able to demonstrate a track record of successful curriculum leadership, and be skilled in empowering staff and students to fulfil their potential and flourish. Importantly you must be able to inspire and motivate our students and staff to perform strongly and effectively.

Successful applicants will be expected to have a significant impact on the success and progression of our students. The Faculty Director will have a visual presence across our City Campus to ensure high technical and professional expectations and you will be accountable for all funding streams within curriculum areas. You will lead the continued transformation of the Faculty’s curriculum, and commercial areas, improve quality, teaching, learning and assessment across all areas of responsibility, raising them to the highest possible standards, and as a result secure excellent student progress.

The post requires a leader who is willing and enthusiastic to step up to significant challenges and implement technical reforms, including: being able to demonstrate leadership experience and proven success in a curriculum role: having a minimum of a relevant level 6 higher education qualification and teaching qualification; the achievement of a vocational/technical qualification; being socially confident and having the ability to represent the Sunderland College effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
