Hartlepool Sixth Form College was recently graded as “Good with outstanding features” by Ofsted, the college continues on with its quest to make an impact on both the quality of teaching and learning as well as the progression and employment opportunities of our learners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the College to work closely with curriculum staff to support the academic development of students across the college, helping them improve their learning skills and achieve their personal targets.

The successful applicant will support a caseload of students on a variety of college programmes.  They will meet regularly with students to encourage, motivate, action plan and support them to maximise their potential, achieve their learning and personal development goals, and progress to further/higher education, training or employment.

Part of the attraction of this post is the range of students you will be working with, it will involve setting academic and personal development targets, monitoring attendance, and punctuality.  Additionally, you will support students to develop strategies in study skills and organisation or aspects of behaviour, take part in volunteering, mentoring and leadership activities. Our students are full of potential and respond well to the respectful support and encouragement that we give them.

As well as the relevant experience, we are looking for an individual with the desire to push for continuous improvement, solving problems and inspiring those around them.

You will need to be flexible in your approach and willing to maintain an up-to-date understanding of developments within the educational sector and/or industries pertinent to the College’s curriculum, students and locality.

You will need to be qualified to a minimum of level 3 and be willing to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.

For this post applicants should be able to demonstrate in their personal statement practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification.
