Sunderland College is one of the largest FE Colleges in the country and is strongly committed to work-based learning and pre-employment provision. The area of Foundation Learning seeks to work with a wide range of learners preparing them for accessing further study in college, employment and positive engagement outcome, including independent and supported living.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified lecturer who can deliver elements of study programmes, including Maths, English, Employability and Personal & Social Development Skills.  The position also includes a tutorial role.  The Foundation team is highly flexible, creative and responsive to learner needs.  The successful candidate will have successful experience of working with learners with learning disabilities, learning difficulties and significant barriers to learning.  They will be an outstanding practitioner who focuses on quality, has high expectations, is enthusiastic and can support achievement and encourage progression into work, further education and positive engagement outcomes.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate innovative teaching, learning and assessment practices; they will have excellent interpersonal skills and classroom management strategies to ensure positive outcomes for learners and to work closely with lecturing staff within the team and across the college. The successful candidate will have experience in delivering Entry Level qualifications based on the Entry 1 Achievement continuum. Hold a relevant degree and either possess a teaching qualification or be committed to work towards one.
Experience and abilities in Makaton signing would be advantageous for this post.
