An excellent opportunity has arisen for two Lecturer 2 English specialists within the English and ESOL delivery team.  We are looking for someone who has a passion for English and ESOL and who can use this energy to set high learner expectations and engage learners.  Sunderland College has made a commitment to support the English and maths agenda in our region and if you believe in delivering a first class service to your learners then we would welcome your application.

The successful candidate will deliver English within a number of settings.  You will have the opportunity to develop your teaching practice within 16-18 Study Programmes, although the flexibility to teach across all age ranges, including some ESOL delivery is paramount.   The role will allow the successful candidate invaluable teaching practice within the English curriculum, allowing the successful applicant to expand and develop their teaching portfolio.

We are looking to appoint two outstanding teaching practitioners in English who possess the ability to communicate their knowledge and expertise to our learners.  The successful candidates will be an integral part of the English team and will be responsible for delivering the GCSE AQA 8700 series to full-time and adult learners, together with the opportunity to develop and support our ESOL curriculum.  In particular, we are looking for innovative and creative practitioners who will collaborate with our team in developing effective teaching, learning and assessment tools to support learner achievement.

Applicants should have an appropriate Degree or subject specialism in English, and a teaching qualification.   Experience of ESOL delivery, including recognised ESOL qualifications would be preferable, together with an assessors’ award to support our IQA process.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate, in their personal statement, practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification.

Due to the nature of this post you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Check.
