Sunderland College has continued to expand with the recent confirmation of our merger with Northumberland College. This growth brings together three distinct North East colleges to create a new group of colleges under a new brand, Education Partnership North East. The merger has created one of largest academic, professional and technical education colleges in the country, with an annual turnover of £54 million and more than 21,000 students.
As the College’s Deputy Principal has successfully progressed to become Principal at Northumberland College, we are now seeking a passionate, high performing Principal for Sunderland College. As Principal you will join our Executive Leadership Team and take direct responsibility for our large-scale activities across our four campuses in Sunderland, Washington and Hartlepool. The successful applicant must be able to step into an exciting transformation programme already underway, adding significant value and driving further improvements based on a positive achievements to date.
Reporting to the Group Chief Executive, this role will appeal to an ambitious Principal seeking large-scale challenge and experience, or an exceptional Deputy or Vice Principal who has the proven track record and skills necessary to make this role a success. You will have a strong curriculum background that will ideally include extensive experience of quality improvement and assurance. You will certainly have worked in a Good or Outstanding College, preferably have Nominee experience and understand not only ‘what good looks like’ but have the drive, rigour and tenacity to help lead us beyond Good to Outstanding! You should have a strong commercial acumen as although we have ambitious growth plans, there are many demands on our resources. Taking sound commercial decisions and being innovative with our resources is essential.
