Charlotte Hunter - Access to Higher Education

"Without the background knowledge and confidence given to me from Sunderland College, I don't believe I would have got a place on the PGCE program."

Daniel moved to Sunderland from Ireland with a degree in Engineering but his aim was to become a Primary School Teacher. He was attracted to the course because of the number of compulsory hours he would spend in the classroom and he knew this would help him grasp the English curriculum perfectly.

Daniel Hayes – Supported Teaching and Learning in Schools

"I found the tutors to be really supportive and with the knowledge and confidence I gained during the course and on my placement, I managed to secure part-time employment in a primary school."

After Melanie was made redundant she decided to make a career change and enrolled on the NCFE Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course. Wanting to gain more knowledge and improve her practice she started on the Level 3 course. Before she had even completed this she had already gained full-time employment in that area. Melanie hopes to further her development in teaching and learning and enrol onto a Foundation Degree in Education and Care.
