Who is this course for?

The course is designed for anyone looking to work in the accountancy/finance field or current workers who would like to improve their skills.

This course starts in September.

What do you need to apply for the course?

You are required to hold least two GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D or above, or have successfully completed a Level 1 Bookkeeping course.

You also need Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy and be able to demonstrate basic IT skills.

For students with English as a second language, you will need to provide IELTS certification.

What are the key things you'll learn?

This course covers the following areas of accountancy and double entry bookkeeping:

  • Basic costing principles
  • How to use manual and computerised accounting systems
  • How to work with purchase, sales, and general ledgers

How you will learn

You will attend classes for 5 hours per week. The course is predominantly classroom based with five computer based assessments spread throughout the course.

You will be required to undertake self-study in your own time, as well as regular completion of homework tasks.

Where could this course take you?

Successfully completing the course would let you progress on to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting as well as provide you with AAT professional membership.

You could expect to gain work in a number of accounting roles, which require an introductory level qualification.
