Who is this course for?

The course is for people who are thinking perhaps becoming a counsellor but what to find out more before proceeding.  In addition, it is the recommended way to start who those already committed.

What do you need to apply for the course?

The only requirement is that you are 19 years old or over at the start of the course.

What are the key things you'll learn?

Listening skills, Person-centred/Humanistic counselling theory, Questioning, How to reflected on yourself.

How you will learn

Assessment is through informal tutor and peer feedback and self-assessment through reflective exercises. Learning is through skills practice with peers, group discussion and exercises both as a whole group and in small groups.

Where could this course take you?

The next level is the Level 1 ‘Counselling & Emotional Intelligence’. The progression to qualified counsellor is through distance learning Counselling skills Level 2, Access to HE (counselling) and Foundation Degree in Counselling.
