Who is this course for?
This is an introductory level course designed to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for a career in the fashion industry.
You do not need previous design or technical experience.
What do you need to apply for the course?
There are no formal entry requirements, as this course is for those who are beginners to fashion design.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You will develop skills and knowledge of the creative and practical processes used in the development and presentation of fashion designs for a targeted brief. You will learn how to plan, research, identify trends and develop ideas effectively as well as experimenting with techniques for fashion illustration, technical flat drawing and sampling.
How you will learn
You will attend two sessions per week, working through a series of research, design and practical techniques, building on each new skill as you progress.
You will create a portfolio of work, which is submitted for your final assessment. There is no formal examination but you will have small amounts of homework throughout the course.
Where could this course take you?
On successful completion of the course, you could progress to BTEC Level 2 Award in Fashion and Clothing.
Following Level 2 you could progress to a Foundation Diploma or BTEC Level 3 in a fashion or textile related subject.
It could also give you the skills and knowledge needed to set up your own business or build on skills needed for a specific area within the fashion industry.
