Who is this course for?
The course is for anyone from absolute beginners with an interest in developing a creative outlet, to learners with previous experience in creative subjects who are looking to refine and expand their creative practice.
What do you need to apply for the course?
No formal qualifications are necessary, just a keen interest in ceramics.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You’ll be learning ceramic techniques including coiling, press moulding, slab building, throwing on the potter’s wheel, sculpture techniques, developing ideas, glazing techniques and science, as well as approaches to professional practice such as pricing of work.
How you will learn
Demonstration, group discussion, practical, tutor presentation, maintaining a sketchbook of ideas and technical notes, and critique of work as a group.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing the course you could, depending on your qualifications and experience, progress on to Ceramics Continuation, Access Art & Design or HND Art & Design at Sunderland College.
What costs will you incur?
Basic tools and materials will be provided. You will be required to bring your own sketchbook.
