The North East has a growing gaming and digital industry therefore this course is ideal for anybody who is looking to further study Games Design at Higher Education and progress into employment within this field. This course will take place at Bede Campus with industry recognised software and equipment for learners for have access to. Students will be taught by our talented lecturers who have industry experience and are able to help you progress forward.
The course has been designed to help students who are looking to progress into the gaming industry and are looking to further develop their knowledge and understanding by completing a range of practical and theory modules to enhance their skills. Modules have been carefully selected to ensure that students develop the correct skills to progress onto university.
If you choose to study this course you must have or actively be working towards:
- Math's and English GCSE (A-C or 9-4)/Functional Skills Level 2
- Relevant Level 2 qualification
- Passion for the gaming industry
- Some prior knowledge/experience of the gaming industry
- Good problem solving and analytical skills

Teaching includes a mixture of both theory and practical units to work through in class with your lecturers. Some modules are blended and will therefore be taught remotely.
It is expected that you hold GCSEs in Math's and English at grades 4 or above, or a Level 2 Functional Skills in Math's and English, however, we can support you if you do not already have these qualifications.
There is no specific placement assigned to this course, however, if you do want to gain some work experience in the industry, this would be encouraged and supported by your lecturers.
You will have the opportunity to attend some virtual events with industry experts. In addition to this you may also have the opportunity to listen and interact with guest speakers.
When studying you will be expected to spend time outside of lessons working on coursework and studying. You will also have access to study areas within the college to support your learning and development.
You will have the opportunity to make the most of our blended delivery model, with some modules being delivered remotely. You will be given access to re-recorded lessons and remote support, as well as attending 2 classess in person for specific physical on the couse.
Some units will be home based and therefore these will be supported during the day.
