With approximately 15% of people being affected by specific learning difficulties, it is important for individuals to develop their understanding of what these are and how they can affect the lives of those impacted by them. From dyslexia and dyscalculia to ADHD and DCD, there are many types of specific learnng difficuties and some people are affected by more than one. This course will help to identify ways of supporting individuals with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
This course is ideal for learners who wish to develop knowledge and understanding of specific learning difficulties. This could include teaching staff that wish to further their understanding of dyslexia, ADHD and other specific learning difficulties, as well as employers who are looking for ways to support their workforce.
No previous knowledge and experience are required, however, minimum Level 1 English skills would be beneficial for completion of assessments.

You will be added to our Equal platform, where you will be able to access all the learning resources and assessments to complete. You will be allocated your own personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. This course is available paper-based too on request.
You should be able to work at a Level 1 in Functional Skills.
This is a 16-week course that requires your own time management for study. You will be given submission dates to keep you focused on the 16-week timeframe.

This course is suitable for learners aged 16 or above.
This course is split into five manageable units:
- Unit 1: Understand Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 2: Understand the Effects of Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 3: Understand the Diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 4: Understanding Supporting Individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties
- Unit 5: Understand the Context of Specific Learning Difficulties
