This unique traineeship will provide you with the knowledge, skills and experiences to enter an apprenticeship or paid employment in the leisure industry.
Once you have successfully completed your traineeship programme you will be guaranteed an interview for a large number of apprenticeship vacancies with Everyone Active across their Sunderland and surrounding area sites.
These apprenticeship vacancies cover the main leisure based careers including personal trainers.
As part of the traineeship programme includes the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification you must be able to:
- Swim 50m in less than 1 minute
- Swim 100m continuously on your front then 100m on your back
- Tread water in deep water for more than 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
- Climb out of the pool unaided
This is a 'hands on' programme with a large amount of practical and placement so that you can competently apply new knowledge and skills to the workplace environment.
The programme includes the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification which includes a practical exam.
If you do not already have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, you will develop your knowledge of these key areas during the traineeship programme. This will support you with your apprenticeship and will be delivered in small classes to support your development.
Placement is the key part of the traineeship programme. You will experience a minimum of 6 weeks working full time across any of the Sunderland based Everyone Active sites.
This placement will include roles such as a personal trainer, lifeguard and more. The placement will not only develop your skills and experiences in this exciting leisure industry but also give you a clear pathway to the apprenticeship vacancies available to you following the traineeship.
This traineeship is delivered in partnership with Everyone Active who are the longest-established leisure contractor in the UK, having been founded in 1987.
Everyone Active's manage over 200 leisure and cultural centres across the UK in partnership with more than 60 different local authorities, including Sunderland.
We are delighted that this traineeship will be delivered by Everyone Active employees and our own teaching staff to give you the perfect platform for successful progression to employment or an apprenticeship in the sport and leisure sector.
This is a full time course for 10 weeks in duration. You will be timetabled across Monday to Friday each week and you will be based at the world class Aquatic Centre. Following the 10 weeks you will then have a guaranteed interview for the apprenticeship vacancies available with Everyone Active.
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) you will achieve is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK & Ireland and is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager
This traineeship incorporates work experience and practical delivery that will prepare young people for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
Designed for people aged 16 to 24 who don’t yet have the appropriate skills or experience, this traineeship provides the essential work preparation training, English, maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment in the thriving sport or leisure industry.
The programme will be delivered at the world class Aquatic Centre in Sunderland and those who successfully complete the traineeship will be guaranteed an interview with Everyone Active for a number of apprenticeship vacancies.
