This course offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience which industry in the region and around the world are looking for.
The course is delivered by lecturers who have worked in the industry and are able to bring experience of the industry back to the classroom to pass onto students.
You need to have achieved a Level 3 qualification in a field such as Computing or Games Design.

Throughout the course students will have the support of their lecturers to help with the course development as well as doing practical, theory and group projects this gives a real taste of what industry will expect students to do once in work placements.
Lessons are made up of theory presentations and practical presentations of the skills needed within industry or further study to be able to succeed.
Students will also develop the softer skills which employers need such as presentation skills, communication and problem solving.
Students on the course will be assessed in a range of ways including:
- Projects
- Written Assignments
- Presentations
- Practical Assessments
- Group Projects
Students who attend this course should have obtained GCSE or Functional Skills Maths and English.
There is no placement included on this course however we do encourage students to gain some element of work experience to be able to enhance their knowledge.
This course is linked to industry who will be involved in different stages. We use local and national industry links for this course so you will experience what the industry is looking for on your next steps.
It is expected that as well as attending to study at the campus you will also spend time outside of college doing additional study as well as report writing and completing group projects.
This is a day course, however enquire on enrolment and we will support where we can.
The HNC in Media Production, Games and VFX is designed for students who have completed Level 3, A-Levels or an Access to HE qualification in Games Design or a related field who are either working during the day or are looking to study part time.
The course is made up of assessments which prepare learners for the world of work or further study on completion of this course.
Students will focus on Project Management, Games design, Mobile development, 3D modelling, Art development plus much more.
Each module has a credit value attached to it which lecturers will make learners aware of on enrolment and this is also detailed in the handbook.
Students who study this programme will be based at Bede Campus and will be taught our state of the art facilities with industry equipment for the gaming and design industry in place.
