What’s it all about?

This course is for people interested in working in the motor vehicle industry or gaining qualifications to support their current job. This programme is delivered in the colleges industry standard workshops, the course will give you an insight into the world of automotive engineering and the career routes available to you

You will need a minimum of two GCSE's at Grade 3 including Maths or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme ( Automotive Engineering)

This programme involves a blend of classroom theory and workshop practical activities within the colleges City Campus. Assessment involves observation tasks completed by curriculum staff, completion of a portfolio of evidence and online examinations.

English and maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE maths and/or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills

Students may be offered the opportunity to participate in a work based placement alongside the programme of study, this is subject to learner progress and placement suitability

The Automotive department works closely with local industry with businesses such as Nissan and Envision

Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm. Days and times of study are subject to change. Timetables are confirmed at the start of term

The aim of this study programme is to develop learners knowledge and understanding of the processes and practical activities involved within the automotive industry.

You will learn the correct procedures for maintenance, repair and removal & refitting of components such as the engine, transmission, brakes, steering and electrical items

Alongside your main programme of study you will develop employability skills, personal skills and communication skills as part of the colleges pastoral programme.

What’s next?

Following the programme completion you could progress to the L3 Light Vehicle Maintenance Programme, an Apprenticeship or into full time employment in the Automotive sector.
