The Diploma in Policing is a very practical course with some theoretical elements based at our Bede Campus, which has state-of-the-art specialist facilities. Students will be assessed by delivering a range of projects that will simulate real life policing situations. Students will be expected to equally engage in both practical and theory elements. Projects such as Police Perceptions, Crime Scene Investigation and First Responder are just some examples of how learners are assessed.
Applicants are expected to or have achieved four GCSE grades at a 4 or above, including Maths and English. However, there is the possibility to re-sit one of Maths or English if required.
Over the two years, students will be expected to attain a minimum of 80 hours work experience in an associated field. Our specialist skills development coach will support learners individually to successfully source and undertake meaningful placements.
Our Diploma in Policing has established meaningful links with a range of experts in the field, which provide outstanding learning opportunities for students. Students will have a lot of engagement with Northumbria Police in a variety of ways. This includes police officers contributing to assessment projects and providing feedback, simulated experience days and enrichment trips.
The course is delivered on selected days from Monday 9.00am - Friday 5.00pm, with your actual timetable provided during induction.
