Four GCSE's at a 4 or above required, including English and/or Maths which can be discussed at your admissions appointment prior to enrolling onto the course.
The Sport, Fitness & Personal Training academy will be a practical course with some theoretical elements based at our Bede Campus with state-of-the-art specialist facilities. Students will be assessed delivering group gym sessions and individual personal trainer sessions. Students will be expected to engage in both practical and theory elements equally. Students will be tasked with projects in across the City to increase participation numbers through Exercise, Fitness and Wellbeing.
Applicants should be expected to or have achieved five GCSE grades at a 4 or above, including Maths and English. However, there is the possibility to re-sit one of Maths or English if required.
Over the two years students will be expected to achieve a minimum of 80 hours work experience in the Sport, Exercise or Fitness field. Our specialist skills development coach will support learners individually to successful source and undertake meaningful placements.
Our Sport, Fitness & Personal Training course has established meaningful links with a range of experts in the field that provides outstanding learning opportunities for students. Places such as:

All provide a range of opportunities within the academy.
The course is delivered on selected days from Monday 9.00am - Friday 5.00pm with your actual timetable provided in induction.
The course is endorsed by CIMPSA, REPS accredited and includes Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer as part of the programme of study over the two years.
This exciting Level 3 programme in Sport, Fitness & Personal Training is aimed at students who want to progress directly to employment into the health and fitness sector in a variety of roles. It is also designed to allow students to progress to higher education, where they may use this qualification to obtain part-time employment whilst studying.
You could move into employment as a personal trainer within the sport and fitness sector, or you could progress to a Level 4 university level course.
