What’s it all about?

This course is designed to provide you with a diverse range of music skills and knowledge and focuses on developing your potential as a musician. Whether you’re a vocalist or instrumentalist, you will hone your talent through a series of performances at esteemed local venues such as The Georgian Theatre and The Studio, whilst learning essential creative skills preparing you for work in the music industry.

The industry contributes £5.2 billion to the UK economy each year and is made up of many roles aside from performers. As well as performance you will learn about composition, recording, production, music theory and the music industry itself. You will also look at how you take your talent and introduce it to the world through contemporary media marketing techniques.

Through music analysis and deconstruction you will learn how to discuss music professionally and theory and harmony study provides students with fundamental knowledge required for their careers and/or university.

You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.

English and maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.

What’s next?

You could progress to university or higher education in music. Alternatively, you could gain employment in the creative arts sector.
