What’s it all about?

This course has been designed as a reintroduction to education for students aged 19+ who wish to achieve a Level 2 qualification, with the overarching aim to progress to a Level 3 qualification.

This course has been written with emphasis on progression to an Access to HE course and covers knowledge that is imperative on all the different Access diplomas.

Not only is this course ideal for students who require the entry requirements to Access, it also allows the development of academic writing skills, develops time management skills and reflection and confidence needed to study a Level 3 qualification.

Alongside the Progression Award, students will also study Level 2 English and Maths if not previously achieved.

To apply for this course you will be required to hold or be working towards a Level 1 qualification in literacy and numeracy.
If you do not have these qualifications you may be asked to complete a short Get into Access course.

Alongside your Progression Award qualification, you are required to complete Level 2 Math's and English if you do not already have these qualifications.

The course will be taught for 1 day per week.

This course requires full attendance in sessions and students are expected to maintain independent study each week at home alongside work in the classroom.

This course is delivered part-time with the below options:

- Day time from 9:30am - 2:30pm.
- Evening from 5pm -9pm

- Creative Writing
- Personal risk, rights and responsibilities
- Health promotion
- Psychology
- Communication skills
- Presentation skills
- Research skills
- Using calculations

What’s next?

Successfully completing the course gives you the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 qualification.

Although this course is taught by lecturers within the Access team, students have access to the college Students Services team and have the opportunity to progress to other Level 3 qualifications.
