Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care
Who is this course for?
The Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care is designed for any health or social care worker who wishes to improve their knowledge and understanding of end of life care. It also has relevance to all types of care settings, including hospices, care homes, care in the community and primary care.
This course is also appropriate for those who have already achieved other sector-specific qualifications in the health care sector and need to apply their understanding in a palliative care context.
What do you need to apply for the course?
Learners wishing to undertake the certificate should be aged 19 or over. You will need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in literacy as you will be expected to write answers for assessment purposes. To assist in the delivery and understanding of this qualification, candidates should have access to details of a work environment where the Principles of End of Life Care would be useful.
What are the key things you'll learn?
The programme is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the emotive issues surrounding death and dying. It will help learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of palliative care and its place within end of life care, along with the support services available to the individual and others. The learning materials will encourage the use of a ‘person-centred’ approach to meet the physical, emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs of people nearing the end of life and their families.
How you will learn
You will be allocated your own study pack and have a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate our knowledge. You will be required to complete six units through written assessment; also available with online assessment.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing the course candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects or progress to further training. You could also progress on to further study in the field or other Distance Learning programmes.
What costs will you incur?
