Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain employment in as a pharmacy counter assistant.
The focus will be on developing practical skills and knowledge whilst also improving job search and interview skills to gain employment in the sector.
Learners should be keen to work in a pharmaceutical environment.
What do you need to apply for the course?
This course is suitable for anyone aged 19 or over who is unemployed, eligible to work in the UK and who is claiming JSA or ESA (WRAG) or other benefits such as income support, housing, council tax, pension credit or an unwaged dependent. People aged 19 or over who are not in receipt of a benefit are also welcome to apply.

What are the key things you'll learn?
This course covers the key areas of working as a pharmacy counter assistant, including:
- Time management
- Problem solving
- Working in a team
- Customer service skills
- The retail selling process
It will have a work-related focus and will cover some of the knowledge and practical skills required for the sector and for gaining employment within the sector.
It is a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or support previous experience or employment following a career break.
How you will learn
This course is taught through classroom based theory lessons, interactive activities, group work and observations.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing the course you may have the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship with a local employer. You will have the skills required to gain an entry position in a pharmacy, progress on to further study, distance learning or an apprenticeship.
