Who is this course for?
This course is for people who are looking to progress into a career in health care, social care, or community work.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You’ll need a suitable Level 1 qualification or four GCSE’s at grade D or above including English Language or Mathematics. Please note the new grading system for GCSE maths and English from 2017 will be numbered 1 to 9, 9 being the highest. Grade C or above will equate to Grade 4/5 or above.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You’ll study the core values of working in the care sector. You will see how the needs of people can change over their lifetime and how care workers can meet those needs.
How you will learn
The course is taught through classroom learning and directed study. You will be assessed through course work.
Where could this course take you?
If you successfully complete the course with a Merit grade, you could progress on to a level 3 Health and Social Care course or a level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development course, subject to references from the level 2 teaching and placement staff.
What costs will you incur?
You will need to pay for travel to work placements in the area.
