Who is this course for?
This course is for practitioners in the exercise industry who wish to develop their expertise into special populations. The exercise referral course is the gateway to specialist level 4 courses in a variety of special populations.
What do you need to apply for the course?
Entry onto this course requires the completion of a level 2 fitness instructors award or equivalent.
What are the key things you'll learn?
This course is made up 6 units of study which are:
- Anatomy & Physiology for exercise and health
- Professional practice for exercise referral instructors
- Understanding medical conditions for exercise referral
- Applying the principles of nutrition and physical activity
- Planning exercise referral programmes with patients
- Instructing exercise with referred patients
How you will learn
The course will be delivered at our new sports academy and take advantage of upgraded fitness suite and studio facilities. The practical parts of the course including learning to interact with referred patients in an exercise environment. The theory aspect of the course will be delivered using engaging teaching methods in our new state of the art classroom spaces.
Where could this course take you?
This qualification is the gateway to accessing level 4 specialist courses for example Exercise & Nutrition for Obesity and Diabetes or Exercise for the management of low back pain.
What costs will you incur?
Course fee – £1,800
Please note this course will run Tues & Thurs 5.30pm to 8.30pm
If you are aged 19 or over, on the first day of your course, studying at Level 3 or above, you are able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the costs of your course, similar to arrangements for higher education students.
