Football freestyling world record holder John Farnworth is hosting sessions at Sunderland College

A world record holder in freestyle football is showcasing his incredible skills at an exhibition at Sunderland College.

Legendary tekker John Farnworth holds five Guinness World Records and has won the World and European Championships in football freestyling.

He is regarded as the top football artist in the world, and his many credits include featuring in Nike and EA Sports adverts and being the only person to complete the London Marathon while keeping a ball in the air.

The footballing master will be exhibiting some of his most famous techniques, including his world record performances, at Sunderland College next month.

John, who has worked with key figures such as Bill Gates and leading brands like Pepsi and Manchester United, said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone involved in the event, I hope to inspire everyone involved with my show and leave them with something to remember. Who knows we may find some new and upcoming freestyle football talent up in the North East!”

The event has been organised by Sunderland College’s sports development officer James Hair in partnership with Fast Feet Football director Mark Rutter.

They are leading a programme of events and activities to encourage more young people in the area to take up physical activity.

James said: “John is an incredibly gifted and talented performer who epitomises hard work and dedication. He has worked with some incredibly high profile companies and individuals so to be able to have John perform at Sunderland College is a huge honour and privilege.”

Mark added: “We are very much looking forward to John spending time with us.  His dedication and desire to become world class is something which we hope will inspire our students at Sunderland College and also our young players at Fast Feet.”

John will be hosting two football freestyle sessions in the college’s brand new theatre at Bede Campus on Tuesday, March 17 at 6-7pm and 7.30-8.30pm.

Tickets cost £3 and are available to buy here
