Students from Sunderland College have recently visited one of the UK’s most popular vintage experience companies to gain an insight and skills into this area of expertise.
The level 2 hairdressing students were given the opportunity to attend a workshop with demonstrations and practical activities for creative vintage styling from the 1920’s to the 1960’s. Hair up is part of the Level 2 qualification, therefore this visit gave an essential insight into various vintage techniques that can be adapted to suit modern day styling.
Christine Bell-Thompson, Sunderland College Salon Professionals Lecturer said:
“We all had a fantastic time at Le Keux, it was great to see how enthusiastic the students were. The whole vintage experience was captivating from the moment they entered the salon. The enthusiasm shone through and all left feeling very inspired.”
Gina Goodchild, Sunderland College Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 student added:
“Le Keux Salon and our trip to Leeds was great. It was helpful to see how different types of hairdressers work to create not only a finished style but also how to open and run a successful business.”
Luke Evans, Sunderland College HE Transitions Officer continued:
“The FutureMe team saw the trip to Le Keux as a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn directly from a successful independent business. We were delighted to help and the feedback we’ve received from the event only goes to confirm that it was an invaluable experience.”
