What’s it all about?

Welding is a skill that shapes the world. From the frames of skyscrapers to the cars we drive, welding plays a pivotal role in building the structures around us. This Level 2 programme is designed for those with a passion for crafting and constructing, offering a comprehensive blend of practical training and theoretical knowledge.
You will learn from experienced professionals in workshops, mastering techniques such as MIG, TIG, and MMA welding. Safety and precision are at the forefront, ensuring you not only perform tasks effectively but also sustainably and safely. This qualification opens doors to careers in diverse industries including automotive, aerospace, and construction, preparing you for roles that demand skill, creativity, and a meticulous approach. You will need a Level 1 Engineering/Welding Qualification or 2 GCSE's at grade 3 or above, Including English and Math's at grade 4.

Learners with alternative qualifications may also be considered following discussion with the relevant course leader on an individual basis.

This course is taught in a blended manner between classroom theory sessions and practical workshop activities. You will work towards the completion of a portfolio of evidence throughout the academic year to demonstrate competence in Fabrication and Welding.

There are no formal examinations in the programme and you will be assessed by your tutor at regular intervals throughout the course.

Achieving a Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English is important, but if you're not there yet, don’t worry! We provide supportive classes to help you meet these essential criteria. These subjects form the backbone of your educational toolkit, opening doors to further studies and exciting apprenticeships. Our sessions in Maths and English will equip you with the skills needed to thrive academically and professionally.
