What’s it all about?

Discover a future in the electrical industry with our Electrical Installation program that equips you with the crucial skills and knowledge to thrive in this dynamic field. Ideal for those passionate about technology and practical problem solving, this course provides hands-on training in wiring lighting and power circuits, using a diverse range of cables, fixtures, and tools. You'll gain a deep understanding of health and safety practices, electrical principles, and basic fault diagnosis.
Additionally, you'll learn to interpret wiring diagrams and conduct essential testing, setting a solid foundation for a successful career. This robust training is not just about mastering technical skills, it's about becoming a confident and capable professional ready to tackle the challenges of the electrical sector.

You need to be aged 19+ including mature students. There are no formal entry qualifications, however, the course does require students to work to GCSE level 4 in Maths and English, or equivalent.

This course is unitised. Students will sit four online tests throughout the year and complete a practical assessment.

Currently this course is delivered over two evenings per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 6pm-9 pm.

Achieving a grade 4 (A-C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is crucial for your future success, opening doors to further education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities. These core subjects are the foundation of many careers, and most employers and colleges require them. If you didn't achieve the grades you need, don't worry our college offers dedicated GCSE Maths and English courses designed to help you succeed. With our expert tutors and supportive learning environment, you'll have the tools you need to improve your grades and unlock your full potential.

This qualification is designed for those who wish to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnical sector.

The Level 2 qualification is designed for new entrants to the industry, providing them with the basic skills and experience they need and will enable students to progress onto the Level 3 qualification.

The qualification covers many areas within electro-technical technology, such as:

- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical installations technology
- Health and safety within building services engineering

Candidates will be assessed by on-demand multiple choice tests (available through the City & Guilds assessment platform e-volve) and practical assignments.

Upon completing this programme, students can advance their studies with our Level 3 qualification, enhancing their expertise and opening doors to higher education opportunities.
